Praying for rain? or Not?

Some areas, with the “wheat belt” in particular are in need of rain right now.  Fortunately last fall’s rain did help a good wheat crop and those fields that were planted late do look promising.   What is everyone else experiencing right now, and what influece from Mother Nature do you need?

We’ve only had 1 inch of rain since October here in Texas. The dryland wheat is gone, irrigated looks alright, but we have invested way too much in it. Going to check out fertilizer prices and go from there.

Here in Northwest Ohio we currently are just right for moisture! Temperatures have been above normal. Our Winter Wheat has just started to green up in the last 2 weeks. Most all of the fields have been topdressed with nitrogen. Heavy raains early this month caused a good bit of damage from drowned out spots. Overall our wheat looks pretty good, too bad the economic potential is so poor!
